Canephron® – another recognition. Another step forward

The 40th anniversary Congress of the European Association of Urology was held in Madrid on March 24-25, 2025. This congress will be remembered not only for its 40th anniversary edition.

The latest update of the European Guideline for the Treatment of Urinary Tract Infections was announced during the congress. For the first time, the guideline of the European Association of Urology, in the section dedicated to the treatment of cystitis, include the category of non-antibiotic treatment, and the herbal medicinal combination Canephron® also takes its place.

The combination of Levisticum officinale, Rosmarinus officinale and Centaurium erythraea, included in the composition of Canephron®,

– demonstrates comparable effectiveness to antibiotic therapy in a randomized study with 659 patients

– helps effectively cope with cystitis without antibiotics in up to 84% of cases

– is effective for both acute and recurrent cystitis. The fact that Canephron® is explicitly mentioned in the EAU guideline represents an important scientific recognition and a major step towards more responsible management of urinary tract infections – in line with global efforts to reduce antibiotic consumption and limit antibiotic resistance.
